Vaginal yeast infections, also known as yeast vaginitis or vaginal candidiasis, are a prevalent issue among women. While these infections typically manifest as occasional episodes, they can become recurring and lead to persistent chronic symptoms.
Women experiencing menstruation (monthly periods) are more prone to yeast infections. In contrast, postmenopausal women not using estrogen-containing hormone therapy are less likely to be affected, and girls who have not yet started menstruating rarely experience such infections.
